Yes Virginia, there is a Santa Claus

Sorry for the long time between blogs, fellow Parrot rescuers.  Paddy's was in limbo.  We had to wait until the insurance adjusters saw what had been damaged before we could tear down or build up any of the buildings.  Well the wait is over. YESSSSSSS!!!!!!

They came today by surprise.  We walked them around the property and helped them with pictures and told them where things used to be located here were now over there.  Haha.  This allows us to FINALLY start the cleanup in and around the restaurant.  We will remove the lean-to of a roof which collapsed.

Since the basement is gutted, we can move most of the furniture there.

We can fix the 16ft x 4ft hole in the roof.  And the adjuster for the other buildings is coming tomorrow.

I figure we lost about three and half weeks while we waited for these guys to show.  Not that I am complaining, because there are thousands of unfortunate folks who have lost their homes.  I think they  are at the front of the line and deservedly so.

So stay tuned, we will crank things up, and post new photos of our progress.

Think May 15th and the new Paddy's Beach will be open.

  2. The damage from Sandy's has been heavily severe, but I'm glad you're sticking with your decision to fix up Paddy's. At least with the renovation, you have a chance to replace the older materials with newer ones that will provide more durability, so things like this have a lesser chance to happen again in the future. For example, newer roofing materials available can provide the roof with a longer lasting life such as an ice and water shield that gives your roof a watertight seal. For more information on different roofing materials you can use, call a reliable roofing contractor in your area.
